WECC awards Senator Brewer the Protector Award

This fall, the Wildlife, Energy, and Community Coalition proudly presented Nebraska State Senator Tom Brewer with our inaugural Protector Award in recognition of his commitment to protecting rural landscapes and the people and wildlife that live there. Senator Brewer has

repeatedly demonstrated a willingness to defend those impacted by irresponsible renewable energy development. His words and actions have extended beyond the boundaries of Nebraska and have given courage to others to take a stand. Senator Brewer embodies the purpose and intent of our coalition, and it is for this reason he was selected for the award.

Senator Brewer served 36 years in the U.S. Army earning the Secretary of Defense Medal for the Defense of Freedom, the Bronze Star and twice awarded a Purple Heart. He is a member of the Lakota tribe and is Nebraska's first Native American state senator. WECC is proud to call Senator Brewer a member.
